Q. When should I prune my roses?
A. Roses should get their main pruning in March, pruning out any weak shoots completely and shortening the main stems to about 15cm (6 inches)
In summer, prune back stems that have flowered, well down the stem to about 2 leaves from the base of the shoot. This will keep the plant short and bushy.
In winter, shorten any high stems back to about 45cm (18 inches) to prevent wind rock.
