Cobnut Webbs Prize Cob- Hazel Nut Tree
The nuts are similar to those of the common hazel, but bigger and sweeter.
Large nuts with a gorgeous sweet flavour whether eaten green (chopped into salads they are gorgeous) or allowed to ripen.
Very heavy bearing.
Whilst this variety can be grown as a single tree they are best grown in groups.
Consider growing them as hedge or shelter belt to your veg plot; and don't forget the 'prunings' will provide a valuable source of hazel poles and supports for the veg garden.
The cultivation of cobs dates back to the 1600s and commercial production of nuts continues to this day in England, the United States and a number of continental European countries.
It is necessary to plant more than one vartiety of cob nut in order to achieve good pollination.
The Common Irish Hazel may also work as a pollinator.
NOTE: This product can only be shipped within Ireland and the UK
