  • Cabbage Root Fly
    Place Cabbage Collars around the plants at planting time to inhibit egg laying by the root fly adults.

  • Carrot Root Fly
    Grow carrots completely enclosed
    in a Cloche tent of Horticultural "fleece"
    for the duration of the crop

  • Club Root
    Destroy affected plants and only
    plant in fresh ground each year.


  • Powdery Mildew
    Remove affected leaves, Water the plants well.Use Yellow Sulphur if attack is very severe.


  • Bean Chocolate Spot
    Feed well with a liquid plant food such as Miracle Grow


  • Pea and Bean Weevil
    Grow completely enclosed
    in a Cloche tent
    for the first few weeks of the crop if this pest is a problem

  • Pea Moth
    Grow completely enclosed
    in a Cloche tent for the first few weeks of the crop if this pest is a problem


  • Pea Thrips
    Grow completely enclosed
    in a Cloche tent

  • Wireworm,Leatherjackets,Cutworms

    Remove by hand when digging or water the soil with
    Supernemo nematodes that will kill the pests

  • Whitefly
    Rarely a problem but if a serious problem then spray with Ultimate Bug Killer if listed as safe on the product directions

  • Blackfly
    Rarely a problem but if a serious problem then spray with Ultimate Bug Killer if listed as safe on the product directions or as an alternative try the Organic product Bayer Organic Pest Control


    On Broad Beans, simply pick off the tips
    of the shoots when pests appear.


  • Slugs and Snails
    Apply Organic Slug Control
    around the plants regularly,
    especially after rain.
